Our Community Impact

In 2025, the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina continued to provide meaningful services to our members and community via our 16 branches in Alexander, Davie, Forsyth, Iredell, Stokes, Wilkes, and Yadkin counties, which includes YMCA Youth Development, YMCA Sports, and YMCA Camp Hanes.

We launched new community programs, invested in our facilities and equipment, and continued to demonstrate that the Y is a safe place for all to focus on their health — spiritually, mentally and physically.

  • $2,130,000 in financial scholarships were given for memberships and programs.
  • 3,523 participants in swim lessons and Safety Around Water drowning prevention.
  • 700 middle and high school students were provided with a safe space to go outside of school hours through the Reaching Our Potential teen membership program.
  • 1,580 children participated in our fun and enriching Before and After School Academies in the 2024-2025 school year.
  • 6,519 participants on sports teams and in clinics and leagues.
  • 24,180 group exercise classes were offered.
  • 935 participants in Summer Day Camp.
  • 2,068 campers at YMCA Camp Hanes were given life-changing experiences.
  • 984 participants were served through Community Integrated Health programs.
  • 27,000 snacks or meals were served in After School Academy and Summer Day Camp.
  • 157 youth in the Achievers program learned about the tools needed for success in higher education and career opportunities in the 2023-2024 school year.
  • 874 children were served through our Bright Beginnings program, receiving clothes, shoes, backpacks, and school supplies to start their year off on the right foot.
  • 283 individuals with disabilities built friendships and improved health in an inclusive space through Let's Get Fit.
  • 300 Youth and Government students attended the annual Youth and Government conference to connect with peers and excel in competition.
  • 137 teens participated in Teen Talks.
  • 20,934 Active Older Adults building community and supporting healthy aging through learning and connection.
