The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) leadership team provides direction to the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina’s DEI services that promote our mission of helping all people reach their God-given potential in spirit, mind and body.

Darryl Head“I am proud to be part of an organization that values and reflects the rich diversity of the communities we serve. It is one of the few places where all people can come together. Our inclusion and equity efforts ensure that all feel the Christian principles of love, compassion, kindness and respect that we hold paramount in the Y experience. Each day, we provide a place where common ground nurtures belonging for people from all walks of life, allowing them to see the value in one another while discovering it in themselves.”

- Darryl Head, President and CEO

AngelicaDiversity, equity and inclusion is not just a box that needs to be checked. It's about being able to embrace our differences, provide opportunities and celebrate one another! To be able to provide an open safe space for ALL of us to work together and make sure we are meeting our staff & community needs no matter what role we serve in.

- Angelica Leonides, Literacy Director and DEI Chair

Adam“To me, inclusion is creating an environment where all people have a voice at the table and belong in all levels of the organization.”
