The Winston-Salem Foundation has awarded $25,000 to the Robinhood Road Family YMCA to support Let’s Get Fit programming in the under-construction C. Jennings Family Airnasium.
The YMCA is a place where common ground thrives and people of all walks of life can belong. We approach diversity and inclusion through the Christian principles of love, compassion, kindness, and respect. We value, encourage, and nurture the contributions that each person makes to our increasingly diverse association and the communities we serve.
The YMCA intentionally incorporates the voices of individuals with differing abilities and their caregivers to inform the development and delivery of the Let’s Get Fit program. Participant and caregiver feedback is collected to ensure programming reflects the lived experiences and needs of those it serves.
By listening closely, we identify barriers, adapt activities, and strengthen accessibility to support both health outcomes and quality of life. Most importantly, Let’s Get Fit amplifies the voices of people who are too often unheard in fitness spaces, positioning their perspectives as essential to program design. Our commitment to equity means honoring the individuality of each participant while striving for continual improvement, growth, and authentic community connection.
